DEC 16, Kathmandu -In an alleged allegation of corruption and misuse of power, Nepal’s CIAA has filed a case against Information and communication Minister Jayaprakash Prasad Gupta, he has resigned from the Member of Constitutional Council.
Prior to this, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai’s Financial Advisor Rameshwor Khanal, Suryanath Upadhayay and Bhojraj Pokhrel, among others, had submitted a memorandum seeking Gupta’s removal from the council.
They argued that Gupta should not be allowed to remain in the council as the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case against him.
Claiming that he was accused in a prejudicial manner, Gupta said he resigned on moral ground. The council has been making preparations to appoint office bearers in the constitutional council.
Minister Gupta was also accused in the past for the similar allegation but freed after political pardon from the Nepali congress party in the past.
